Rashid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, the eldest son of the Ruler of Dubai, died of a heart attack.
The thirty-three year old “noble knight” fell off his horse last Saturday. Funeral prayers were led by the Ruler of Dubai. His coffin was wrapped by the Emirati flag carried by his brothers. Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum was laid to rest at the Umm Hurair cemetery in Dubai.
Dubai is observing three days of morning. Flags are flying half-mast as a sign of respect. Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum will be remembered for his role in advancing sports in the United Arab Emirates.

Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum was the eldest son of the Ruler of Dubai. He was born on November 12, 1981. He was educated in Dubai at the Rashid School for Boys. He graduated in 2002 from Sandhurst Military Academy in the United Kingdom. He died on September 19, 2015 of a heart attack. He was thirty-three years old.
Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum was known for his love of horses. He won two gold medals for horse riding at the Asian Olympics in 2006. He was a founding member of Dubai Sports and Cultural Club. He also contributed to Dubai Cares. Dubai Cares is a charitable organization that deals with child poverty.
Upon his death, the court of the Ruler of Dubai issued an official release. The official release said: “God bless the deceased young man. We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.”
