Mountain Roraima is that remarkable place in South America. It is the meeting point between the boundaries of Brazil, Venezuela, and Guyana. This giant flat-topped mountain is about 9 miles (14 km) long and 9,094 feet (2,772 metres) high. Mount Roraima is the source of many rivers of Guyana, and of the Amazon and Orinoco.When visiting or browsing those images you will notice that Mount Roraima is like a tabletop mountain. High cliffs surround it on all sides.
There is only one ‘easy’ way up, on a natural staircase-like ramp on the Venezuelan side. And if there is any other way to climb Mount Roraima, it will take an experienced rock climber.On the top of the mountain it rains almost every day. This is the reason behind its lush and unique landscape where all sorts of plants grow – plants that are very rare.
Mount Roraima is definitely a very well-known Venezuela landmark that can be seen for miles. It represents the oldest geological formation on the planet, as it dates back 2 billion years. Located in the same park as the Angel Falls location makes of it the tallest in the world.
There is one other fact among many others about Mount Roraima. It rains there every day. Waterfalls randomly pop up at various locations. And since it is flat, there is nowhere but down for the water to go.
Mount Roraima was the first major one in the world to be climbed. In 1884, Sir Everard im Thurn took a forested trail that lead him to the plateau. This is the same tough trail that is used by hikers today. The lucky ones to reach the top of Mount Roraima will be greeted by black rocks, wildflower gardens and numerous pools.
